Identifying Your A-Team:
Understanding and Supporting Student Mental Health
Participants will go through the experience of being able to identify key members of their school-based "A-Team" when supporting student mental health. Secondly, we will outline the major roles of school-based staff that support student mental health, including the school resource officer. This will include how Birmingham City Schools (BCS) is modeling the usage of its own "A-Team" to support students with their social-emotional and behavioral skills. Lastly, participants will leave with best practices on how their "A-Team" and the Joint Task Force for School-Based Mental Health (JTF-SBMH) can collaborate together to advocate for the growing mental health needs of the students they serve.
